How about her story...?
With the start of studio sessions for the instrumentals and vocal tracks for Even Dawn's upcoming single 'Aend timeZ' here is a short story about her musikal beginings and high hopes for a happy ending.
Even Dawn's songs sound like music plucked from the future, wrapped in the roots of deep ancestry.
She began writing music one sunrise, seven years (+1 day) before 21/12/2012 which was celebrated by staying awake all through the night. While awaiting the ascent of the morning sun over the treetops, the first song- 'Altarnation' took form. Within that following year, from the summer of 2005 to the summer of 2006 Even wrote 7 a'cappella songs in total, some now have instrumental accompaniment and are being recorded in Northern Rivers NSW for her e.p. '7even' to be released through Mind-Heart Media in 2011.
Performing these songs for her own enjoyment, Even's delivery was then something like mystic poetry, lilting little sing-song stories and musically described scenes. She then began to approach some songs as rap rhymes, developing a rhythmatic delivery. That was right about when things started to tick over into whole new dimensions of sound. The 'invisible library' which opened upon studying the art of the eMCee offered maestra Even D keys to access the vast soundscapes of her imagination... Her assignment became to skillfully craft vocals with lovingly blended tracks - her intention: to musically voyage to the other side and back. By now many more songs are tumbling out of Even, deepening an innate desire to decypher the mystic jam band in her mind.
Propelled into improvised vocal settings with a diverse and world-influenced crew of instrumental local musicians, Even started finding her place in the mix on the mic. Returning home with 'jam on her fingers' she started picking up the acoustic guitar and then a melodic steel percussive instrument made by PANArt called the 'hang'.
It is often remarked upon for looking like a UFO... but the hang not only looks like it's from Outer Space, it can certainly sound like it too.
Now with a uniquely stellar sound to accompany her quirky, soulful vibes; those first songs to have stemmed from her fertile inspirations have taken hold and are now shaping up to be a mesmerising collection of tracks for her anticipated releases - becoming available soon through MHM Music.
When staying in Melbourne Even plays in the Kinship, with backups and rapped vox and composing arrangements for the forthcoming album 'Synchron City'. Whereas the songs for her '7even 'release will be diffused with Even's light mellow moods the 'Synchron City' tracks are being turned into funky, Kinship soul shanties.
An essence of such sweet sentiment gets carried through Even Dawn's songs, they sound like soothing balm for the weary-hearted. The melodic arrangements she plays on the hang transport listeners to celestial realms where they are offered a piece of paradise to bring back home to earth.
Touching a music of the future;
embracing a return to soul.

The blue album. 67-70. Dad's vinyl. My house in Mt Riverview. Endless laps on the turn-table.
Those sounds. That vibe. The ooze of Infinite Good.
And Bradman. The golf ball on the water tank. The maiden hundred. The triple century. The face of hope in the gutter called Depression. The agonising final innings duck.
And how these sounds and stories enthralled. The highest capacity of human. The peak of all success.
And how I longed for the hero status. The elevation. The acclaim. The starring role.
And why not?
Later on I would read Louise Hay and tune in with the vast all-circling Hara lines and the rope of Intention guiding this wandering Dream called Real.
And so I choose it all. And why not?
Melbourne's Galactic Cabaret - KIN : 059
In Music Noos we've had plenty of action of late. Rachel by the Stream has come on board the Kinship and commenced work on an e.p. Still starting out but the first couple of tracks are sounding really really sweet. We are also totally stoked that Peter Woodlands, the man responsible for the awesome production on Jshwa's close being completed 48 album, is also working solidly on his solo material. What we've heard so far is a deeply musical and inspired offering.
We can also announce the line-up for the next Galactic Cabaret on June 6th. The show is to be headlined by U.K originating now Melbourne-based Rap News Presenter and enlightenment promoter 'Hugo 1', playing with his dj as 'Hugo and Treats'. Support slots have been judiciously handed to Rachel by the Stream, MC Tray, Big Milk and The Kinship. We've still got some video and audio recordings from the last Gal Cab to be popped into the Music Noos too, as well as Jshwa's latest blog action.

Kinship - Spaceships in the Kitchen
Reality TV has never been as real as this before. Right before your eyes is a portal to the kinship kitchen in The Don. Mega pan with the steady-cam and the Kinship krew members Mattriks on the beat-box and vox, Jshwa with his guitar n twang plus Priestessa playing keys and melodica operatica! Not to mention the feline-geek Howie who nabs his moment during PSA's solo...
